Music Ministry

Every musical presentation of the Sanctuary and Handbell Choirs is offered as an integral part of worship just as is the spoken word.  We like to think our selections are sermons wrapped in music. Through the preparation of both the voices and the playing of the bells, we are interpreting the scriptures and are following the biblical text as represented in the entire service.

It has never been our intention to simply sing or play but, rather it has always been our goal to study, learn, stretch and grow in our musicianship, spirituality and our fellowship with each other and our Lord.  We attempt to strengthen individual talents with special assignments in the Sanctuary Choir as we strive to polish our vocal talents. Sometimes more demanding and challenging compositions both classical and contemporary are selected for both choirs to learn.

Both choirs work to try to provide music that meets several criteria.  First, we have to work within the confines of the talents available to us which sometimes requires rewriting the arrangement to fit our abilities. We stress vocal techniques, harmonization, and tonal placement and

pay particular attention to enunciation. The beauty of the musical notes must be supported by lyrics that every worshipper can hear and understand of we have failed in our sermon presentation.  At the same time, we attempt to select varied forms of music to try to reach the myriad tastes of our worshippers.  Our purpose is that we may worship in presenting our music so our congregation may worship listening to us as we try to enhance the aura of worship.

Come and join us in our musical ministry.
We can always raise more voices to the Lord
and more trained Ding-a-Lings would be great.
