WOW Awards WOW stands for "Workers of Wonders". It is a program for the 9 a.m. Sunday School Class, sponsored by the Christian Education Team. The program rewards our youth for service to their church, school and community and special acts of kindness toward others. We also recognize outstanding effort and accomplishments in school and service organizations. Our teens have been receiving "WOW" cards since January for good works ranging from participating in worship, to helping with food drives, to making the honor roll in school. This is done without the knowledge of the other classmates. It takes 10 cards to receive a bookmark with an Eisenhower Silver Dollar. 20 WOW cards, and the young people will be awarded a special WOW T-shirt created by Ann Paine, and made by our Craft Ladies.
Our young people are learning to be a blessing to others, and we are happy
to encourage and support them along the way. The WOW program is
on-going, so please notify Ann Jordan or Jane Capo if you see or hear of
any of our youngsters going "above and beyond."
Our first WOW Award winner is Katelynn Jeanne Bauer who tends to "give her gifts in secret." It is difficult for her teachers to reward her, because she works her wonders so quietly. Katelynn believed she needed one more card than she already had, so this award on Pentecost Sunday 2007 was a complete surprise to her. Her contributions to WOW include helping with the Auction Sale, participation in Bell Choir during the winter season; (without being asked): setting up drinks and food before Sunday School class, cleaning the Kids' Room after class, outstanding participation in class discussions, writing personal notes of good wishes to others in class, helping with the younger children in their class; also, volunteer library work in middle school, and working hard at the Post Office for the food pantry. Katelynn received her Eisenhower Silver Dollar for her quiet, but wonderful, efforts. Congratulations, Katelynn!! May 27. 2007 |
